The ECU women’s swimming and diving team swept the American Athletic Conference weekly awards on Tuesday with senior Vendela Norrman being named swimmer of the week and senior Alicia Roueche tabbed diver of the week.
Norrman, a junior from Tyreso, Sweden, produced a NCAA B cut time and placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke. She also was part of a winning 200-yard medley relay team and runner-up in in the 100-yard breaststroke. Her time of 2:15.85 in the 200 breaststroke is 26th in the NCAA and first in the AAC. She produced a time of 1:04.68 in the 100 breaststroke. The 200 medley relay squad posted an overall time of 1:46.02.
Roueche, a redshirt junior from Greensboro, finished first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events in a dual meet against Old Dominion on Saturday. She tallied a score of 290.05 in the 1-meter, a top-four finish in the conference. Roueche produced a score of 348.70 points, qualifying for NCAA Zone Regional.
The Pirates return to action Saturday against UNC Wilmington inside Minges Natatorium at 1 p.m.
