PCC guns in 19 three-pointers in 105-79 win over LCC

WINTERVILLE — Pitt Community College shifted its offense into high gear Tuesday night to zoom past rival Lenoir Community College 105-79 in the Battle of Highway 11 and conference opener.

Darian Daniels, a 6-7 sophomore from Sarasota, Fla., knocked in 10 of 16 from three-point range for a game-high 30 points, and the Bulldogs gunned in 19 from long range overall in winning their fifth straight game after a season-opening loss.

PCC was in command after roaring to a 60-34 halftime lead.

Brandon Faison added 18 points, hitting a trio of three-pointers and 9 of 10 free throws. He also had a team-high 12 assists. The 6-2 sophomore from Charlotte is now averaging 22.8 points per game.

Semaj Yelverton, a 6-6 freshman from Goldsboro, added 11 points for PCC. Antonio Freeman, a 6-7 sophomore from St. Paul, Minn., scored seven points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Freshmen Timothy Downing and Trel McLean contributed nine points each.

PCC travels to South Prince George, Va., on Wednesday to face Richard Bland College in another conference game.
