Greenville Police have arrested four Greenville men in connection to an online sale meet-up that turned into an armed robbery.

Brandon Hardy

According to a news release issued Thursday by the Grenville Police Department, Raekwon Arrington, 19; Brokema Edmonds, 19; Jahkevus Edwards, 20; and Brandon Hardy, 18, were arrested on Wednesday in connection to a robbery in the parking lot of Zaxby’s 2035 E. Firetower Road

According to the release, officers at about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday responded to a report of an armed robbery at Zaxby’s.

Raekwon Arrington

The victim told officers he arranged to sell his Playstation through an online app and agreed to meet the potential buyers in the Zaxby’s parking lot, the release said. When the suspect arrived, two suspects got out of a vehicle, approached the victim and took off running with his Playstation.

The victim pursued the suspects on foot. During the chase, one of the suspects allegedly displayed a gun while the other suspect threw the Playstation on the ground, the release said.

Officers located a vehicle matching the description of the suspects’ vehicle at a nearby Wendy’s restaurant, the release said. Two people who were inside the car were detained and a gun also was recovered from the vehicle. Two other suspects were apprehended by  officers in the areas of Tara Court and Smythewick Drive, the release said. They were positively identified by witnesses as the individuals who committed the robbery, according to the release. All four suspects were transported to GPD headquarters for interviews.

Brokema Edmonds

Edmonds and Hardy are being held at the Pitt County Detention Center under $50,000 bonds, while Edwards bond is set at $150,000; and Arrington’s bond is set at $105,000.

In August, Detectives with the Greenville Police Department’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit two arrests in a series of similar robberies related to the mobile marketplace app LetGo.

In those cases, Darryl Stephon Blunt Jr., 17, and 16-year-old Isaiah David Harragin were arrested and charged with felony larceny, common law robbery, aiding and abetting armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with four robberies.

In each of the incidents, Harragin allegedly posed as a potential buyer on the LetGo app and lured legitimate sellers to a parking lot where they were robbed, the release said. In some instances, victims were held at gunpoint.

Jahkevus Edwards

The Greenville Police Department would like to remind the public that police have established “Internet Exchange Zones” outside each of the three Greenville Police Department substations. Although the department cannot guarantee an officer can be present for every exchange, each of the areas are under 24-hour video surveillance.

Anyone wishing to make an exchange may also do so in the lobby of the substations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Addresses for the substations are:

* West Zone Substation – 1024 W. Fifth St

* East Zone Substation – 3195 Suite A, E. 10th St.

* South Zone Substation – 728 S.W. Greenville Blvd.

Anytime you meet a stranger to exchange merchandise there are risks involved, regardless of the location. When making online exchanges, the police department suggests that you:

* Arrange to meet during the daytime hours;

* Never go into a neighborhood unless you are familiar with the person you are meeting and the neighborhood

*If the person you are meeting does not want to exchange items at the police department, it is a good indicator that you should not meet with that person at all.
