WINTERVILLE — In honor of Veterans Day, Pitt Community College will be performing its annual Veterans Day Salute ceremony on Friday at 9 a.m. in the Craig F. Goess Student Center’s Davenport Multipurpose Room.
For the past 19 years, Pitt Community College has put on this event in honor of the nation’s veterans. Breakfast will be served from 7:30-8:30 a.m. for all PCC faculty and staff who are veterans. Student veterans who are in good standing with the school are also invited to attend the breakfast in the Walter and Marie Williams Building dining room. Veterans planning to attend the breakfast are asked to contact Brady Quinn at [email protected]
This year’s event will consist of a pair of performances by the Pitt Community College Chorale and the D.H. Conley High School Color Guard, along with a recitation of The Pledge of Allegiance by Grace Fields, a freshman at PCC. Remarks also will be delivered by retired Marine Maggie Weder, who enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1975 and served for 22 years before her retirement.
