Farmville Chamber Chatter with Judy Gidley

Everybody needs to park their cars or get off their bikes and just walk down the beautiful streets of FarmVille. As I was walking to the Post Office from the Chamber office, much to my surprise I discovered a new business, Pop Up Art Gallery in the Ruby room of the old Bonnie’s Cafe at 3720 North Main Street.. A darling young student, Victoria Schultz, has started a pop up art gallery that will only be open these next  few summer months. I highly suggest y’all visit this talented young lady. She has a variety of fabulous works of art from paintings to jewelry, to pottery to greeting cards. Last Friday she had a reception or open house. Of course, I found several goodies I had to have. What a cute business concept but y’all better get there before it closes in the fall. It opens from 11am – 5pm.

Tomorrow, Thursday, June 29, two exciting events are happening in FarmVille. At 11:00 the Rustic Elf located next door to Hobbs Insurance will have a ribbon cutting. Not only will y’all get to see and learn all about his wonderful wood working business but hot dogs and the fixings will be served. What a wonderful way to open a new business in the  summer months with a grill and the all American hot dog. A grand opening of the Rustic Elf will be held on Saturday, July 1. Bring your whole family especially your children. This business is child friendly and has many things for children and families to do. At 5:30pm tomorrow,Southern Bank  will host a Business After Hours. All members and potential members are invited. This a great way to network and also to eat the delicious food catered by Debra Dail of the FarmVille iconic restaurant, the Little Rocket. I can just taste those gigantic wings and or their famous chicken salad. I hope they are on the menu but hey, everything there is fabulous. Thanks to Southern Bank for kicking off the summer with this get together. We will eat well in FarmVille tomorrow.

I can hardly believe that July 4th is  almost here. Do not forget about the Little Patriot’s On Parade on July 3. The town of FarmVille is holding the celebration of our nation’s birth on the third of July and the Chamber is a proud arm of our town so we are too. Calling all little FarmVille patriots that live here or are visiting…Be at the old Kue’s lparking lot now the home of Boost Mobile and Napa at 5:15-5:30 pm. We hope to leave by 5:45 and march to the Town Commons by 6:00. Farmville’s finest policemen in the world under the leadership of Donnie Greene will lead the way and stop cars at each street crossing. But let’s back up, while at the parking lot, each child will receive a cotton American flag on a wooden stick. Along with flags, they will be given, red, white, and blue glow in dark necklaces and bracelets, adjustable patriotic friendship bracelets, mini pinwheels, Double Bubble American Flag gum, patriotic tri-color leis, glitter patriotic tattoos, not to mention the delicious snacks and drinks we will enjoy after we reach our destination. Our children make the cutest patriots of all so adults join them by walking with us or standing on the sidewalk across from our walk and cheering them on. It’s going to be a great Independence Day. I just love this town,Heaven on Earth. Oh, if y’all have seen this year’s cute poster you may recognize three beautiful local children. Pictured in patriotic colors are Linsey Ashton Clark, grandson of Carrie and Ludy Baker and Macknna Grace and Adalyn Kate Thomas, granddaughters of Rebecca Thomas. So cute! I want grandchildren like these. Thanks to the grandparents for all their help.

While I was walking the streets and visiting the most giving, nicest people ever and our 2016 Merchant of the Year, the FarmVille Flower Basket, I ran into some local celebrities. Erin Carraway, daughter of Ronald Carraway owner of the only true service station, Carraways, in this area and her fiancé Karl Sundin. Erin and Karl have been performers at Disney World for nine and five years respectively. Erin’s mother Mildred told me that Erin started dancing for Dot D Jones at two years old. At four Erin saw a picture of the Castle at Disney World and told her mother she would be dancing at that castle. In 2013 Erin’s dream of dancing at the castle came true. I guess Disney World is a magical kingdom.  Karl dances and does other performing jobs but right now he mainly walks around the park on stilts. Erin also trains all the new cast members. They plan to continue their jobs after their marriage  for several more years. If y’all want to see these talented Farmvillans in Florida just call the Flower Basket who are Official Magical Vacation Planners and can take care of your travel needs.

After y’all finish your walk on Farmville’s awesome streets sit down for lunch at one of our incredible restaurants like Marabella’s or La Cabanita on Main Street or drive to Little Rocket or the Roadrunner. You, our citizens need to shop, buy, attend, and dine local because we have great things in FarmVille, and we will not have these fabulous merchants without your support.
