Winterville,NC- Another Watermelon Festival has come and gone, and this year’s event wrapped up just in time for the end of summer.
A number of great activities and events took place during this years event.
The good times included a watermelon eating contest, car show, parade, and of course an abundance of delicious food, fun rides, and entertaining music! Maci Kirkman, a local teen and music enthusiast, performed Saturday at the festival. Not only was it a memorable day of music, but it was also Kirkmans 17th birthday which she spent sharing her passion for music with the town of Winterville.
Winterville Baptist Church was at the festival serving up their usual bout of free watermelon!
The church has been cutting and serving melons at the festival for many years, and this year they did not disappoint!
A lot of other fun times were had during the weekend of the Watermelon festival. Chelsea Long of Winterville said that this is only her second year to attend the festival, but she was not disappointed. “I’ve come to the Watermelon Festival for the past two years, and I think it’s a great local tradition.” Upon being asked her favorite part of the event Long insisted that the free Watermelon is the best aspect of the festival.
Fun was had by all at the 2017 Watermelon Festival. It was definitely one for the books!
