Boys soccer: Rose wins, Conley falls

NEW HOPE — J.H. Rose evened its overall record and completed a season sweep of Eastern Wayne on Monday, taking a 4-2 win in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference boys soccer.

The Rampants improved to 9-9 overall and 4-7 in the ECC with just their second road win of the year. The Warriors fell to 3-11-4 overall and 0-10-1 in the league.

Rose hosts league-leading New Bern (10-5-2, 9-0-1 ECC) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in its Senior Night and regular-season finale. The Bears travel to Charles B. Aycock on Tuesday.

Southern Wayne blanks Conley

DUDLEY — Senior Rodolph Enescar scored a pair of second-half goals Monday to lift Southern Wayne to a 2-0 win over visiting D.H. Conley in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference boys soccer.

Shyquell Kornegay and Genaro Morales were credited with one assist each.

The Vikings fall to 11-9-1 overall and 6-4-1 in the ECC heading into Wednesday’s Senior Night home match with South Central at 5 p.m. Southern Wayne closes its regular season at Eastern Wayne.
