Jags Secure Top Seed

Greenville, NC- The Jaguars of Farmville Central clinched the EPC championship on Thursday night with their win over North Pitt. The game was played at Beddingfield High School because it had to be at a neutral site. North Pitt forced the game to be played with their victory in the final game on the schedule on Wednesday night. Because of North Pitt’s win on Wednesday, the Jags and Panthers sat tied atop the Eastern Plains Conference with 9-1 record. Both schools only conference losses came against each other.

The final meeting between the 2 teams did not disappoint.

The Jags were able to take each of the 3 sets, sweeping the Panthers but each set was very tightly contested. The first set was back and forth the whole time until Jasmine Sanders eventually finished the Panthers off with a kill to make the score 25-21.

In the second set, Farmville Central jumped out to an early 13-7 lead before North Pitt called a timeout to try to get back into it. Coming out of the timeout, the Panthers looked energized and cut the deficit to just one, 19-18. But the Jags weren’t finished yet. Courteney Pitt got the last 3 kills to secure the 2nd set for Farmville Central, winning the set 25-23.

The Panthers appeared demoralized early in the 3rd set and it didn’t wear off. The Jags took the final set by a score of 25-16.

The Jaguars will host the 1st round of the state playoffs on Tuesday, October 25th. The opponent they will face has not yet been announced.
